We did a BMW Factory Major Service (10K). Tires and brakes and all rubber parts are in very good condition. The mufflers are solid and undamaged. We tested the motor compression, leak-down, and oil pressure; all were found to be very good. The transmission is quiet and shifts properly.

The ignition key also fits the steering lock and seat lock. The fuel cap lock does do not lock. There is a tool tray, and an original BMW tool kit. The new battery is a sealed type. The rear shocks are Progressive Suspension. The front brake system has been upgraded with a braided stainless hydraulic hose. BMW factory engine guards are mounted. Krauser saddlebags are mounted with a 1 piece BMW tubular bag mount / rack combo. A clock and volt meter are installed in individual pods on each side of the main instruments. A pair of BMW "Snowflake" mag wheels have been installed; original were wire wheels on this year & model.

At some time in the past this bike has been upgraded with more modern parts. The engine bottom end (block / crank / canister type ignition, etc.) from a 1982 model has been installed, along with the improved newer style light flywheel / clutch-pack, and the easier shifting 1981-84 transmission.

This model came equipped with 32mm carburetors (instead of the 40mm ones on most R100 models. This makes the motor put out lots of lower end torque, and makes the bike very fun to ride while still getting much better gas mileage than most BMW 1000cc models do.
