We replaced the rear main seal, and cleaned and inspected all the clutch parts and found them good. New wheel bearings were installed on the front wheel during the 10K Service (the rear wheel bearings were still very good).

It is equipped with the standard factory fuel tank, USA Bars, and the narrow dual seat, and the much sought after Earls front fork assembly. All cables in good condition. All electrics work properly. Fuel tank is clean inside, no rust; and the toolbox lock works. Brakes and drive splines are in good condition. Transmission shifts right, no funny noises. Tires are useable, but a bit hard; we recommend that they be replaced before extensive highway service or bad weather riding. All other rubber parts (grips, boots, etc.) are in Very Good condition. The period aftermarket Swerengen mufflers are in good condition and have a nice deep mellow tone.

There is some worn paint on top of the frame rails, between the tank and rear suspension, as well as small worn spots in several other areas. We decided against touch-up at this time, but it could easily be done if it was an issue for a new owner. The chrome wheel rims are in good and straight condition; the spokes are solid, but no longer shinny. The chrome on the handlebars and clamps is poor. The engine / frame / frame plate numbers all match the title; but research shows them as 1969 R69US. Our best guess is that somebody switched out the crankshaft, cylinders, and heads at some previous date. It was obviously well done, as the only clue is the numbers with a different sequence from other R60/2s.

This bike would make an excellent and stylish daily commuter, or a weekend back roads tourer, or a bike to ride to ride to a Bike Nite gathering or Vintage Bike Rally.
