This gasket is ONLY to be used if you desire to lower the compression of your 1970-75 R-bike. This is BMWs "solution" to the lower octane ratings in today's gasolines. If you are running the best gas you can find, and you still get a "knock" on mid-range throttle up, on a hot day; then installing this gasket is one possible solution.
